In this, the third and final installation of Andres' Introduction to Groovy series, you learn about how Groovy handles variable numbers of arguments, named parameters, currying, and more about Groovy operators. Including, some new operators.
Swing Fuse (actually just Fuse), is a framework designed to make it easier to create your own custom desktop components. In this article, Daniel Spiewak shows you how to get started and provides sample source code you can download.
Willam Louth shows how he uses JXInsight Probes to investigate probable performance issues with code bases that he is not familiar with. He also highlights possible pitfalls in creating a benchmark, as well as in the analysis of results.
First it's good to provide a header for every exam you write. This helps the user know what the exam does/does not cover, what the have to know prior to taking the exam; you can also(it encouraged that you do!) post some links to online tutorials or books you know are good and can help users that don't know the current topic but want to learn about it.
Since I don't know JDO I will give you some thoughts about the form of the current objectives. But first I just want to say that these objectives are much much much better than the first ones you wrote:P. I congratulate you for this evolution and for self-improving yourself. About the objectives now:
- for the "General" category, I would suggest using a list for condensing some of the info you present. For example:
Explain the function of the
- PersistenceManager
- Enhancer
- Extent
- PersistenceManager factory
- JDOHelper
Explain the advantages and disadvantages of using the interface PersistenceCapable and an Enhancer
Please see here that I haven't using any punctuation marks, especially point("."). I think you shouldn't use either(we can get other opinions on this as well)
- I see you have used list for all the objectives in each category. I would suggest to use lists in cases like the one I've written above(usually to group related information).
- also I think it would be very good to provide formatting for the objectives. See Jeanne's post above. (you can take a peak at the objectives(which are given as examples all the time:D) written by Henryk for the Hibernate exam. You can find them here: http://www.javablackbelt.com/QuestionnaireDefDisplay.wwa?questPublicId=00137)
No problem with the question.
I know that JDO is going to die.
Because hibernate or other persistence techniques are more popular and also better. I have written the objectives, because a writter for the exam has been searched. I think you are right with the future of JDO. I also think that JDO has no future.
I have finished the objectives for the jdo examen and posted it in the wiki pages under Examjdo. If there is any need for the exam, please provide me a feedback, what needs to change.
Benedikt, I've created the exam + categories but before I can add amount of questions to the particular category we need to move existing questions from the exam root category i.e. /Persistence/JDO to the appriopriate /Persistence/JDO/* subcategories. Could you do it? I don't know JDO unfortunately.
I have sorted the questions in the appropriate JDO sub-exam categories. But some questions do not fit in any of my categories.
The questions were to specific. But I can not define all this things in one exam, because then the exam will get too big, JDO is a very big specification and so I covered not all aspects. If we need other categories, we could make an intermediate exam. But I think that the exam, that I have created is also very big, but it rather covers the basic stuff. If we need more advanced topics I can create an intermed. exam.

If you haven't looked at http://www.jspwiki.org/Wiki.jsp?page=TextFormattingRules you should also check that out(for formatting).
Good work so far. Cheers!

Re: JDO
Hi Benedikt,I think I'm going to play the bad role of the guy who asks the annoying question. Sorry for this.
What is the future of JDO ?
Kind regards.
John.
