JetBrains Releases IntelliJ IDEA 7

JetBrains has announced the release of IntelliJ IDEA 7.0. New features include enhanced Spring support, better TeamCity integration, and many new inspections. Although the release is not yet currently available for download, it should be very soon.

I've been using IDEA 7 M2 for awhile now, and one of the best features I think is the greatly improved Spring support. For example, you can now see a visual dependency graph of your Spring beans.

Other than the improved Spring support, additional features include:

  • Better support for Javascript and CSS
  • Enhanced support for dynamic languages such as Groovy and Ruby
  • Many new code inspections
  • Enhanced refactoring support for XML

Although as mentioned, the press release was a bit premature and IDEA 7 is not available for download quite yet, it should be very soon. When it becomes available, you will be able to find it at JetBrains

Mike, don't forget about Groovy support too! JetGroovy is shaping to be the best Groovy dev tool so far.

Re: JetBrains Releases IntelliJ IDEA 7

It feels weird to say this about what started as a Java IDE, but I am most excited about the Flex/Flash support. It will be really nice to have a Flash IDE that also runs nicely under linux.

I just wish that it had a full-fledged set of Flash project types. As it is, it is not at all obvious how to start a Flex project.
