Hot on the news of the Apache proposal for Project Harmony . The SNAP Development Center at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico is ecstatic to release 0.7 of the SNAP Platform. This release offers a vision of what Project Harmony could become. SNAP Platform is a comprehensive open source development toolkit based on the popular Java language, Java API and the best open source Java-based tools. The SNAP Platform packages into an easy to install solution, the latest stable releases of an open source Java compiler, a Java virtual machine, a J2SE API, and various other open source Java-based development tools.

SNAP Platform includes the Jikes open source Java compiler , the SableVM open source Java-like virtual machine and the GNU Classpath Java-like API , the Eclipse universal tools platform , the Tomcat servlet container , plus sample programs with source code and developer documentation. With this documentation, the sample code, and the level of integration in SNAP Platform, developers with only some experience in Java can feel comfortable using SNAP Platform as soon as it is installed.
