Eclipse Europa - Full 'Featured' Moon

The new Eclipse 3.3, released in 29th June under the codename Europa, is the 2007 coordinated release of 21 Eclipse projects.

There are many points to evaluate on this release, incluing fixes and enhancements of many sizes and concerns, but i'd like to mention just some o the new features.

The Mylyn project, previously named Mylar, seems to provide one of the most innovative features for IDEs since PVCS integration. The ability to keep track on artifacts related with the same task or issue, brings a huge productivity improvement for developers and also offer a better environment organization than working sets.

Other good feature inside Europa is the new JSF Visual Editor present on Web Tools Platform project. This feature makes easier the task to construct complex JSF views. Besides core JSF components, the editor is also able to detect third-part componentes installed in the application and show them in its component pallete.

Dali project, also other subproject of WPT, fills an important blank for JEE development community using Eclipse. The new JPA perspective makes easy the ORM tasks, and encourages the deployment of the Entities, in an apparted JAR from EJB components, which is a good strategy mainly if we need to move our domain model to applications without EJB support.

There are also many small enhancements that can be missed at the first look, like ortografic correction on comments posted to PVCS, new Ctrl + 3 shortcut

The Eclipse Europa has much more features and enhancements to discover and use, now it's up to us.
